Celebrated NYE at Pane e Vino. An already awesome, character old fire station has been transformed into an Italian food heaven. We had a calamari to share. It was crunchy on the outside and fresh and yummy in the inside. It was light and non greasy. A must have as starter. Their pasta are so good. Linguini da Marie was sensational with very fresh and deliciously cooked prawns. Spinach Chicken bake paste was out of this world. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended. Can’t wait to go back to try out different dishes. Top place!

Very authentic italian

The food was ok, our pasta was served on a cold plate, and was pretty much stone cold when it arrived, starters were nice. Ambience wasn't great, everything was loud as there was nothing to deal everyone talking.. like some sound proofing. We really struggled to converse

It’s a very cozy and quaint little restaurant. Service was super good ! The pasta tasted better than the pizzas. Disappointed with the fungata pizza, couldn’t really taste the truffle oil and tasted something I could make at home. I would recommend getting the pasta and share the pizza. They do have vegan options like vegan cheese ! You can BYO but it’s $10 per wine bottle, a glass of wine on the menu cost $12-$15.

There were about 25 of us on Saturday 14th. The waitress who was designated to our table had a very poor customer service. She was clearly stressed out and at one point yelled at us for not seated at our table, while we were taking photos of the bday celelbrant. We got the set menu - polenta was overcooked, they didn't have any vegeterian option for the pasta. Food was nothing to brag about and the wine selections were not good either. Such a shame, the location is ideal.

Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was nicely presented. Had a deposit put down on the table and left having a credit left for the refund deposit ran out. Try and put down a smaller deposit if u can.

Turned up for BYO night with some friends. When we sat at our table, wine bottles started being taken away before telling us why (apparently you are only allowed 1 bottle for every 2 people). The waiter offered to order us some pizza bread for the table, which arrived almost 45 minutes later, burnt and crispy. We had to ask to order food, as no one was coming to our table for orders. The food was below average, my pizza was soggy and worse than a frozen supermarket pizza. The restaurant was very full of people, so naturally it got quite loud. When one table left, one of the waiters rudely started yelling at us telling us we were too loud and we were disturbing others. When trying to leave, the staff were incredibly rude, trying to make us pay for things we didn’t order. Terrible food, even worse service. Will not be going back.

I ordered a pizza for my son on uber eats We were home waiting and the driver went to the wrong house. When we called him he had just dropped the pizza back to the restaurant. Uber said to go and pick it up. I rang and spoke to the restaurant and said I'd come and pick it up. They said they were busy and would call back but didnt. I rang again they said they didnt have it and wouldnt make another. My son was in tears. Such a mean spirited attitude, i wont be back.

Amazing atmosphere, but food not worth the price for the quality that it is. We had set menu at 40 bucks. Caprese salad was 3 slices of unripe tomato, cheap rubbery mozzarella and a few mixed leaves. Very underwhelming. Spaghetti bolagnaise was a small portion and the spaghetti to meat sauce was way out of whack. Again. Underwhelming. My partner had the fried squid entree and it was so over salted. Her steak main was pan fried, but it had no caramelised yummy goodness on the outside. It was almost stewed and insipid. 40 dollars I could have got an amazing dinner at a local curry shop. Will not be back again.

Cute Italian place in Ponsonby. Good food and great service in a casual dining room. Really happy with the food and the friendly staff - you will be greeted with a warm and genuine hello when you arrive.

Consistently one of the best places for great Italian food. Food is terrific and the owner who runs front of house is enthusiastic and nothing is ever too much trouble. Try the specials...they are always great.!

I wouldn't go back. Food was ok. Tho my wife did enjoy here gnocchi dish. However I did not enjoy being ignored and talked past as if I was not there... the Italian born MaitreD was more interested in talking to my Latina wife even tho it was her Kiwi born brown ( part German)husband who asked the questions? I experienced the same "behaviour " in Italy.. didn't expect to experience it here in my country of birth! If you don't know how to talk properly to people of all cultures and ethnicities then maybe you shouldn't of opened a restaurant in a city that has the biggest Pacific Island population!!?

A group of us came here for a friends birthday dinner on Saturday night. We opted for BYO and all brought along a bottle of wine. Upon arrival we there was a confusion on their policy and half of our bottles of wine were aggressively snatched off the table and we were told one bottle of wine were to be shared between two people. Despite the low level of hospitality we received, we tried to make the most of the evening in hope not to put a damper on the birthday celebrations. Toward the end of our dining experience, I asked if we could sing happy birthday to the birthday girl. The request was met with a desert and a candle along with a birthday song. It was only right before leaving the restaurant they generously gave back our wine and then charged us for $10 corkage for all the bottles of wine. As we were leaving we were told that the bill has not been cleared, to my surprise they had charged $14 for the desert. There would be no problem with this if additional cost was clarified when making the request, we would have still gotten it! BUT you need to make these things clear. I made no fuss when paying, but on the way out made it clear to the owner that we were very unsatisfied and would be making a review the next day. Instead of apologising for all the miscommunication and confusion, I got laughed at and called ridiculous.

Cheap and cheerful. But very noisy. Perhaps good for the younger ones. For me, quality of dishes have slipped.

Had the great Italian dining experience last night and they were so accommodating giving the current COVID-19 situation. Their food was amazing and served so quickly. It was also awesome to see regular customers coming in and the owner recognising them and chatting. Definitely want to become a regular now :)!

Great food. Very authentic. Our go to for Italian cousine

We haven't eaten in, but did pick up food to go. It would be a fair assumption that pick up pizzas from an authentic Italian restaurant would be made in house - so we were bitterly disappointed to see they were mass produced on the other side of the city. Even worse, checking the menu afterwards, we realised we were blatantly overcharged. Shame, because it is a lovely location and atmosphere. Won't be going again.

One of the best BYO in Auckland!

Absolutely amazing. Went at lunch time around 1pm and it was lovely and quiet. Felt like what I assume a slice of Italy would be like. Superb food (the cannelloni is gorgeous). The food came out surprisingly quick and they do not skimp on the flavour. Absolutely worth everything you pay for. Definitely recommend for lovely meal.

Good value for money lunch spot if you want standard Italian fare. Tried Penne all Genovese and Penne Caprese, the sauce was delicious and the pasta was decent.

Went for Dinner and will be gong again - Host was very alert the building is beautiful, such an authentic joint and location is perfect for an after dinner stroll Pizza A++

Always delicious, classic Italian fare and friendly service. They will always try to fit you in. A local restaurant we have frequented for years. Awesome atmosphere and their new location is brilliant.

The food and service were good, but the sound upstairs was absolutely horrific. I could hardly hear the person on the other side of the table. They really need to put something to absorb all the sound.

$250 for 4 people. Expecting far better than what we received.

I work in a restaurant so I don’t really like to juge but for this one I was so disappointed ! Was terrible really .... we didn’t eat the polenta fries because they were so over cooked and double fried but we had to pay for them, gnocchi was cold, pizza was dry and really not interesting and to top it all off the 3 of us were sick all night. The manager looked like he didn’t care at all ...

Delicious comfort food. Will be going back.
